Eggs - Large & X Large & JumboGrower: Weedy Soil Farm
Price: $5.00 ( Dozen )Available (Exact): 2
My chickens are fed organic feed, supplemented by extra veggies from my garden and whatever bugs they can catch. We have too many predators around here, so I’ve only been letting them out of their mobile pens a couple days each week. On those days they are free to roam wherever they like, with 15 acres to explore. The eggs are still good, but the chickens are a little sadder.
.
Each box will contain a mix of large, extra large and jumbo brown eggs, in whatever proportion the hens lay. It varies from day to day. I label each egg (with a wax pencil) with the date it was laid as well as the egg size. If I know which chicken actually laid it, I will add that chicken's name, too.

Kale - Red RussianGrower: Weedy Soil Farm
Price: $4.00 ( 8 oz )Available (Estimated): 2
This kale has pretty purple/pink stems and veins, and tastes just like the curly kind.
My favorite way to prepare kale is to steam it for 5 minutes (no more!) and use a dressing on it made from 2 cloves of garlic, 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. You don't even need to make the dressing in advance. Just throw it all in the bowl with the steamed kale and stir. Yum!

Turmeric - Fresh Turmeric RootGrower: Weedy Soil Farm
Price: $3.50 ( 4 oz )Available (Estimated): 5
My turmeric is truly fresh - not dried up like I've been seeing in the grocery stores.
Turmeric is a powerhouse of medicinal foods. It is the natural source of curcumin, proven to be anticeptic, antibacterial and anlagesic. It has too many health claims to list.
More importantly - it tastes great! I was a little skeptical at first, but the fresh version is not nearly as pungent as the dry powder. I have been adding a piece to my morning smoothies along with some ginger and cinnamon and it's really good.
Or make some turmeric tea.
Also - I don’t peel it. That’s just too much work and turns everything it touches (especially your fingers) bright yellow. I just snap a piece off, wash the dirt off and toss in in the blender.
