Howdy! Welcome to Weedy Soil Farm’s market!

I grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and I have a bunch of happy hens to produce eggs for you. I use no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and my chickens are fed organic feed. The chickens live in mobile coops with attached pens to keep them safe from our many predators, and I let them out for supervised play on our 15 acres as often as I can safely.

Feel free to browse through the available produce on “The Market” tab. Go ahead and set up an account so you’ll be ready to order something delicious!

Why Buy Locally Grown?
Locally grown food is better for a variety of reasons. The biggest reason is it tastes better because of its freshness. Food grown at Weedy Soil Farm will generally be available the day after it is harvested. Food trucked in can be a week or two old, allowing the natural sugars to turn to starch and nutrients to decay. Second in importance (to me anyway) is the reduced environmental impact. Buying food from Weedy Soil Farm means minimal packaging and far less fossil fuel burned to deliver it to you.

Why Naturally Grown?
Producing food without the use of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides or chemical fertilizers removes the risk of ingesting trace amounts of these chemicals that may be in conventionally grown food. Some of these chemicals can be absorbed by the food and can’t be washed off (although you should definitely wash all produce before eating it, naturally grown or not).

Is it Organic?
Weedy Soil Farm follows all the organic standards, but is not certified. I originally planned to get certified, but my customers have indicated that it isn’t really necessary. Be assured that I will be following the organic standards as I grow the farm, but the produce cannot actually be called organic.
